Hello everyone, we are the Yak Seat Drivers. A trio of university first years looking forward to a summer full of the unexpected.

Hello all! We are The Plenipotentiary Extraordinaires and are happy to join the Mongol Rally community.

What is a Plenipotentiary Extraordinaire? It used to be a (magnificently titled) job.

Once upon a time, there were empires that spanned the globe. These empires had to deal with one another, and it wasn’t always convenient to send someone just to ask a few questions and take it back to their boss, the monarch, and then return to the other side of the planet again to resume discussions. So a high-ranking person was bestowed with special powers to go and make state-level agreements in the government’s name, and that person was the Plenipotentiary Extraordinaire.

Obviously, we don’t pretend to be any kind of high-ranking anything. But the globe-trotting nature of the job, along with the spirit of representation of something we believe in, is definitely something we feel strongly enough about to justify the difficult-to-spell-and-pronounce team name.
