Finish line!!!!
https://w3w.co/
We made the final 0.2 mile stretch to the finish line at the Cochin Club today. The U.S. national anthem played as Dinah drove us onto the finisher’s podium. We have spent a lot of time in the tuk tuk over the last two weeks, but we were a little sad to leave it behind.
We’re planning on attending the finisher’s party tonight at Bolgatty Palace, a short boat ride from here.
Tomorrow we plan to do a little exploring around the spice markets and bazaars of Kochi.
We fly home on Friday evening.

Holy Toledo we made it to Fort Kochi!

Took a very packed ferry to get there, but we made it!
Some photos of the ferry and our hotel room for the next three day.

It seems to be pretty much solid wall-to-wall people for the final 250 miles. If you took half the people out of India it would still be way too full.
Today was not our furthest distance but it was our longest day - we pulled into our hotel at twilight. Traffic is heavy and continuous. I am getting so used to all the driving every which way I am ready to take on Houston with one hand adhered to my horn - I suffer no fools!
Things are still dirty and in poor repair as they have been the entire way. I saw a sign that said “Cleanliness is godless.” Mistake or an excuse?
Also, looking at me and the three very nice VERY tiny Indian Oil gas station ladies I wonder, am I GIANT?

Update from Mangalore.

We got back on the road this morning after two days of sun and fun on the beach at Goa. The day off from driving was great. We took care of a few minor maintenance tasks on the tuk tuk and found a local to take care of some laundry for us. We wrapped up the day having a few drinks with some fellow Rickshaw Runners and watched the sun set over the Arabian Sea.
We covered 185 miles today, our longest drive of the trip. Not much to share really since almost all of the driving was on freeways.
Only 260 miles left to go. We are planning to cover the distance in two days, then have a few days in Kochi before heading home.
A few random pictures from the past couple of days...
