Team 4 Kings and a Jimny

The Route

Our vague route is as follows:

We plan to travel through Europe via Amsterdam, Prague and Kiev, before entering southern Russia. We then traverse across Kazakhstan before re-entering Russia. We finally cross into Mongolia, and once we brave the Gobi desert we will make it to our final destination, Ulaanbaatar. To give an impression of how far this actually is, the finish line is a couple of hundred miles laterally east of Bangkok.

Edward Clarke

AGE: 20

UNIVERSITY: Durham 2nd year studying History

MOST EXCITED ABOUT: Getting lost. Fully integrating and becoming a native Mongolian

LEAST EXCITED ABOUT: Luke's chat. Having to bribe board guards. Not getting shot at

FAVOURITE COUNTRY: Mongolia

HOPES TO GAIN FROM TRIP: Memories

WHAT I BRING TO THE TEAM: Charm, intelligence, calmness, gun driving

FAVOURITE QUOTE: " Auto racing, bull fighting, and mountain climbing are the only real sports ... all others are games." Earnest Hemingway

PERSONAL STATEMENT: Having survived the last two years of the Northern locals around Durham, Edward feels that whatever the Mongol Rally throws at him, he will be able to take it in his stride. Having learnt to drive/race around his grandparents farm in a mini aged 13, cars and driving is in the blood. Questions remain if navigation will be up to scratch without the use of a TomTom. Always with his hand involved in all things stash orientated, Edward will ensure that the boys will look flair. Can’t wait to bring on the challenge…

Luke Shaw

Weighing in at a muscular 90kgs and at a height of 6 2", luke is by far the most valuable member of the team, forget about the brains that is Ed, the Brute clunge that is Humps or the medic of the team Buck. Luke is the main man. Studying French at Bristol University, he is the man with the golden tongue, ready to get the team out of any a dodgey place. With his basic knowledge of Russian he hopes to significantly inprove with the help of talking the language of Russian love. Just like Ben from the apprentice he is the holder of an Army Scholarship to Sandhurst, this accolade will definately come in use when the team is in the middle of nowhere with no means of fire and no access to water, he will rustle up a four course meal using only sand and Humps' piss. Luke is also going to have to been on hand to help Humphries get out of many a sticky situation involving eastern european prostitutes.....Luke believes that this adventure will top the thrill of the marathon. He hopes the charities that the team are supporting are grateful of the fact that he will have had to spend around a month in a car with Humphries...........
