Team The Real Arctic Monkeys

Moscow, Russia

Having attended the finishing ceremony at the point of latitude of the Arctic Circle we delivered the bike to the garage ready for its return to Irbit where we started. An early flight today following a heavy night of vodka us arrive in Moscow for a spot of sight seeing including the Top Gear team in red square. Gearing up for another early flight which sees us arrive in the UK at the same time we leave Russia. The Real Arctic Monkeys mission is complete!

Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Russia

Met a great guy today as we had the tyre changed today, a Russian biker took us to his place for tea and cakes and we showed him the website he loved it but thought we where crazy! He took us back to the tyre shop and wouldn't let us pay. Just great hospitality again. A police escort for the last 40km to Nayagan at -17oC tonight then a stop for paper checks and photos followed by a lift to the hotel as they securely park our bikes. They love to see us and are all do welcoming

Kemerovo Oblast, Russia

after the hospitality of the Russians we where able to return the favour by helping a few vehicles that where stuck on the single track deep snow covered tracks. Some minor mechanical issues with the bikes so first part of today will be topping up on spares and checking them over. Making good progress at a steady pace having great fun

Andy

Two brothers, one mission
To reach the Arctic Circle riding the notoriously unreliable circa 1930s designed Ural motorbike with sidecar across the frozen wastelands of Siberia during the ice-cold month of Febrrrrrrruary.
We will be navigating over 2,000kms of ice-roads and frozen rivers from Irbit at the foot of the Ural Mountains and home of the Ural motorbike factory, to Salekhard – the only town in the world to be located on the Arctic Circle.
Temperatures can plummet to more than -50C and are regularly -30C.
My brother, Adrian, is bringing his hot water bottle and teddy…
Wish us luck
Andy
