Hello
I said I'd Write a blog on the Rally so I will. I suppose now is as good a time as any.
Team Ardnamongolia is so named because we're a terribly unimaginative bunch and couldn't think of anything more inspired than combining the starting point with the finish point (Ardnaulan-ude didn't have the same ring). We're from a peninsula on the west coast of Scotland that just happens to be the most westerly point on the British mainland, it's called Ardnamurchan. We're going to Mongolia. Creative genius.
The team consists of three members. Alexander Macgregor, Adrian Stace and myself, Jack Macmillan. One property developer, one computer programmer and one commercial diver. None of us have any vested interest in cars or any automotive knowledge whatsoever. Not one jot. So naturally, driving half way round the world in a fairly old, incredibly unsuitable car was our first choice of Summer Holiday.
The car, Or the 'Timerous Beastie', as it shall be henceforth known, is a Hyundai Getz. Its been expertly restored by the boys at Loch Shiel Garage. It's red. Thats all I've got to say about that.
I think a short team introduction is more than enough to be getting on with until we actually have something to write about.
Jack Macmillan
Three useless men from a place that isn't entirely real.
A local construction company that have been very supportive of our cause. They build things. The'll build you anything. HIRE THEM IMMEDIATELY.
Local bus company that is rapidly expanding. Made sure team Ardnamongolia arrived at school on time in all weathers. If your car breaks down in the Gobi desert, they'll get you where you're going. No Problem.
Did a fantastic job of servicing our car before we head off on the big trip. Absolute faith in it. Recovery in Kazakhstan could be fairly pricey though...
Local watering hole. Traditional music, Alcohol and comfy beds. Can't ask for much more.
