This son of Genghis Khan, Recep Yesil aka #AWOL1, is selectively from Germany, Switzerland, USA, Taiwan, China or Turkey. He is racing against nobody but himself. He’s been a bike messenger. He’s run a bike company. He’s been a bikepolo player. He’s been a bike engineer. He’s been dreaming of riding from whereever to Istanbul for almost 20 years now. Unaffected by his physical condition, he knows that this distance is a question of the right mindset. Suffering and never giving up is in his DNA – he will finish, because he simply has the will to do so. To him, this race is a dream that comes true which he will share with #AWOL2 as Team AWOL.
