A group of overly confident men whose primary objective is to not become another "accidental death" statistic while running a rickshaw into an elephant (as appealing as that sounds). Meet the team:
Jakob Gradisek - The Driver: Slovenian power trader with zero experience in navigation or repairs but managed to successfully survive 5 motorcycle crashes, an avalanche, and a shipwreck so far.
Will Adamson - The Engineer: fourth-generation British Virgin Islander which questionable family history and an engineering degree that gives him unlimited bragging rights with zero actual technical knowledge.
Gavin Post - The Navigator: a South African captain with zero qualifications to handle a road moving vehicle, but can operate a compass (unless it starts raining).
Between us we have about 500k travelled miles across 5 continents and 30+ countries. Now we're pointing a three-wheeled fire hazard across Sri Lanka and calling it a charity event. Priority one: raise cash for Cool Earth. Priority two: don't die (optional).
Brickshaw Team Fundraiser
In October we're taking on the Rickshaw Run — driving a glorified lawnmower across Sri Lanka for reasons that made a lot more sense after a few beers than they do now. We're raising money for Cool Earth, the official charity partner of this ludicrous adventure. Cool Earth works directly with rainforest communities, funding locally-led projects that protect the forest rather than telling people from the outside how to do it. Since 2013, adventures like ours have raised over £2.3m and helped protect 2.1 million acres of rainforest — so every donation genuinely adds up. We'll be doing the breaking down, the getting lost, and the questionable roadside repairs. All we're asking is that you help us make it worth something bigger than a good story.
