Turkey
Well, we made it out of vama veche finally, and headed south for about 10 kms then another Border post.. My english passport enabled me to only have to spend 2 minutes on the border, but Varks and Mick got stuck there for half an hour with their Aussie ones.
Finally thru and even managed to pay the road tax this time (first time all trip as we didnt even realise previously it was required - escaped a 50 Euro fine there!).
Bulgaria is pretty green, generally flat with plenty of cropping going on and a shitload of wind power farms.
Down near the Turkish Border it went into the hills with some decent windy roads and its obvious our GPS doesnt have updated roads for this area as it took us on some pretty dodgy ones.Looks like some good rocks there with plenty of alteration... I may have to come back!
Spent about 1.5 hrs on turkish border waiting in about 3 ques for various documents to be stamped and then we were thru and on the way to Babaeski where we decided to call it quits for the day and then went out and found a place with beer.. the most expensive on the trip, between the three of us we dropped $1000 for the night, we had no idea on the exchange rate and got done proper!
Time off
Took a few rest days from driving and enjoying the beach at Vama Veche. Definitly a place to come back to for an Idyll weeks holiday. Plenty of Beach bars and a good view
Time to Party!
Easy day's drive today from Nuremburg (Germany) into the Czech Republic, and on to the Ralley Pitstop/party at Klenova.
Had a bit of shopping to do in Nuremburg, including Tents, and other miscellaneous camping bits and pieces, otherwise we will be sleeping in the cars, which are not large cars!
Pom Land
Now in Richmond, Left the car in Barcelona at the airport and flew to Southend for the night, collected various bits of Kit. Obviously not taking the car to the Launch, better as I can drink more beer that way. Flying out Sunday morning from Gatwick to Barcelona again, then a 21hour drive to the Czeck republic.
Almost Ready
Car is out of garage, Roof racks going on first thing tomorrow, and luggage pretty much all packed. Have to put the Radio system in the car and some Petrol in the tank, then off to Barcelona..
The calm before the Storm
In Benidorm, Spain - having the weekend off after chasing around registrations/Mechanics spare bits and bobs prior to the start of the epic Journey.
Decided to book some flights and fly to england for launch rather than taking the car, then will fly back and make a start from spain.
Mon June 2nd 2014
Inspection of the Cars we are going to be in for the journey..
