On the The 2015 Mongol Derby

One week until I take flight!

Life, oh the tangled web it weaves...

My week so far....

Monday - •Physio calls me and asks how my back is going. I happily report I am feeling supple, limber and ready to ride. Practically backflipping and tumble rolling with every turn. •Arm burn is looking super healthy and fresh skin has replaced the filth. New career in wound dressing clearly on the horizon.

Tuesday - •Woke up with a funny pimply cluster next to my mouth. Spent the rest of the day making ridiculous herpes related calls to everyone unfortunate enough to listen. •First ride of the week and I realise that I haven't fallen off in at least a month!! Watch out Mongol Derby!! •Family confirm my burn is pretty much comparable to the chubby yet smooth buttocks of Maddi Moo. Skin grafting not even necessary.

Wednesday - •My cute pimple family have escalated overnight and a mountain of volcanic heathen angry vultures result in a visit to the pharmacy, a small argument with the pharmacist and me leaving with cold sore cream and my herpes clean slate destroyed, mutilated and crying silently. •Pelé spooks at one of the agistment horses and despite my amazing coordination and lightning fast reflexes, I hit the dirt like I've been eating chocolate and carbs all week (oh wait that's the truth). But you know what?? I couldn't be happier!! Sure my back/booty looks a little like I have been dragged through gravel by my dreadlocky ponytail. And maybe my face looks a little like I really should not be venturing into public, let alone a Sales Rep that comes face to face with multiple humans every day. But with less than a week until I vacate the country, I'm feeling positive and ready to roll (and I pretty much mean roll in a literal sense of the word!!).

Thank you to everyone for being so amazing over the last year. Us WA girls have been so lucky to have such love and support along this fantastical journey!!

And the race hasn't even started yet!! ![file](//uploaded-files.theadventurists.com/images/blog/49eb382bd14b2c433485206c6a36855923f7aadf.jpeg)[gallery] Drag and drop images you wish to upload within these gallery tags. On the The 2015 Mongol Derby

22nd September 2014

Rode - 5.5km in 31:29.

After being super unmotivated for weeks and not riding at all. I decided that today was the day. I packed my gear to go straight from work and during the day I made contact with WAERA, asking about the last ride of the season, 20km at Capel on the 18th October. Time to actually get off my booty and do something with my pony. Considering Tehya’s lack of work, I was impressed with her focus and absence of hissy fits (mostly).

Sitting on the couch with Alex that night ‘watching’ Jurassic Park, I opened my emails only to find I had been accepted into the 2015 Mongol Derby!! Such crazy timing and exactly what I needed to motivate me even more.

Cassie

I am just a normal, every day 30 year old girl.

No idea what I'm doing with my life and still ridiculously and financially unviably addicted to horses.

I am not a successful endurance rider (unless you count completing a 20km training ride in June 2015) and I don't have any fantastical equestrian related achievements to justify why the Mongol Derby is a smart life choice to make.

But here I am anyways. Curly hair, chunky thighs and ready to have an adventure!! :)
