Day of Departure: R-Day -7

So Pete & Olivia arrived at out house late last night. We had a nice little snack/supper at around 2:00AM and chatted about our anticipation of the trip.

We sent the kids off to school, and made final preparations with the Grandparents who would be looking after the home front while we undertook out new adventure.

Had a nice dinner at Newark Airport and a very easy flight to Delhi. [gallery]

It's R-Day Minus Ten

Our mighty team has had its second to the last pre-race Skype conference. Today we met Johnson Parackal, who works with Childaid Network in Assam. He'll serve as our host for the last 3-4 days of our venture. We also went over our Twitter feed plans (#CatanRickshawRun for English streams and #CatanRickshawRun2015 for German feeds). Finally, we talked about our gear and went over the checklist. With 4 rickshaws, we need to haul a few things. "Duck Tape" is number one on the list (just above squeeze filters for water).

Child Aid Network

Childaid Network is doing valuable work in the northeastern part of India, supporting projects for refugee children and street children as well as setting up schools for children in need. We from Catan, together with our partners at Kosmos and Mayfair, want to support this work with our journey. Our plan is to visit this region and show you some of the less-traveled areas of India, far from the usual tourist spots. We hope that this will draw attention to the much needed help there, and trust that this will encourage you to help in some way.
