Bayanhongor, Mongolia
our car is kaput! We made it as far as Bayankhongor but our car needs a complete engine rebuild, two massive holes in the sump and alternator needs to be fixed. We will still make it to UB but it is likely to be in a more reliable automobile... A jeep!
Bayanhongor, Mongolia
Broke down last night about 100kms from Bayankhongor.... Massive oil leak and problem with starter motor. Tried to do DIY job and jump start it no success! Had about 25 Mongolians helping us last night till 1.30am including a very dodgy tow! No success so slept in car today and have called for a proper tow. Now we play the waiting game!! Big thanks to team born to be wild too, they have been amazingly helpful last few days!!
, Altai Mountains
had easily the worst sleep of the trip last night. We had to camp 90kms west of Altai as it got too dark. By 1pm we found ourselves in the middle of a dust storm!! Survived the night made to Altai this morning. Need a new tyre after a puncture yesterday and fix brake cable before taking off again. It's getting real!@
, Altai Mountains
Powering through the top of the Gobi. Very bumpy and slow averaging 25kms an hour... 200kms to next town Altai. Hopefully we make it! PS map position yesterday was wrong we are in the mid west of Mongolia not the north!
Khovd, Mongolia
tough 350kms today but now in Khovd. Highlight of today was holding a hunting eagle on my arm!! Pushing on for another 20kms to camp next to a massive lake!@
Khövsgöl, Mongolia
made it through the border yesterday we are in Mongolia!! Stayed at a traditional ger last night, was a strange experience!
Tashanta, Russia
through Russian side of the Mongol border... Just over an hour... Now the tricky one... Mongolia!
Onguday, Russia
Camped in the middle of the Altay mountains last night near Onguday, Russia. Beautiful scenery, picked a spot right next to a grade 5 rapid! Off to Mongolia today and hopefully a smooth border crossing
Barnaul, Russia
made good time yesterday heading to Pavlodar Kazakhstan and because it was such a lovely city we decided to push onto Russia. We are in Siberia now!! Stayed in Barnaul last night, home of the KGB! On our way now to the Altay mountains and then tomorrow the Mongolian border!!

Russell's teapot, sometimes called the celestial teapot or cosmic teapot, is an analogy first coined by the philosopher Bertrand Russell (1872–1970) to illustrate the idea that the philosophic burden of proof lies upon a person making scientifically unfalsifiable claims rather than shifting the burden of proof to others, specifically in the case of religion. Russell wrote that if he claimed that a teapot were orbiting the Sun somewhere in space between the Earth and Mars, it would be nonsensical for him to expect others to believe him on the grounds that they could not prove him wrong. Russell's teapot is still referred to in discussions concerning the existence of God.

So to all you naysayers who think this adventure is impossible, we say to you.......
