Altai, Mongolia
Yesterday and today have been a real slog but we are finally making some good miles!

Yesterday and today have been a real slog but we are finally making some good miles!
Khovd, Mongolia
And we are on the road again!
Khovd, Mongolia
Aston Micra towed us 85km into town, what legends! Staying in a mechanic's yurt so hoping to get running again
Ulgii, Mongolia
Thrilled to be in Mongolia, but hoping a friendly local can fix our ignition relay. At the moment we can't even start.
Rubtsovsk, Russia
Crossed the border and flying towards Barnaul on some good roads. Fingers crossed they stay good.
Ayagoz, Kazakhstan
Managed to find the only restaurant open in town. Decent Chinese meal. Locals forced vodka upon us.
Almaty, Kazakhstan
Stocking up on supplies for the road ahead, also replacing fluid in radiator to battle heat better
Turkmenbashi, Turkmenistan
Finally cleared customs and on the road again! Car bouncing all over the place
Baku, Azerbaijan
Stuck in the infamous queue for the ferry. Amid the confusion, some tickets have appeared! Spirits are high
And So it Begins...

[/gallery] *Who are we?*
Three engineering students about to embark on a 10,000 mile charity drive from London to Mongolia. In an ancient Ford Fiesta. With no support team, and no hope.
*Why are we doing this?*
...
We're not sure either. We all like a challenge - especially one that can do some good for the world. Comfort zones are there to be pushed. New experiences are there to be had. And banter is there for the taking.
Preparations have just begun. Routes are being planned, visas applied for, and we think we've sourced a vehicle (more to follow soon).
Matt also plucked up the courage to tell his parents what he is doing today (well done Matt!).

We have chosen to raise money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, and Cool Earth, who both do some fantastic work:
Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research aim to improve the lives of blood cancer patients, through funding pioneering new treatments, enhancing diagnosis and personalising treatment methods.
Cool Earth are all about putting indigenous people in control of their native lands, protecting them from logging corporations and helping them build better communities.
We are hoping to raise £1500 in total. Thank you so much for helping us to reach our goal.
Intrepid explorer. Struggling student. Mediocre sportsman.
Charity fundraisers. Mongolian pleasureseekers. Mediocre engineers.
