after a long time of repairing the cars we are finally back on the road heading to uralsk in north kaz. With two great teams and moral is high

Spirits are high again. There's a chance we might be able to fix the moke! We've come across an english engineer with an enthusiasm for the rally that we'd lost after thinking it was the end for the moke. He seems to think anything is fixable so we're full of confidence once more.

left the baltica brewery in rostov yesterday after a very hospitable stay. Managed to get past volgograd and find a motel in the middle of nowhere. On our way now to astrakhan providing suspension holds

We've got to odessa but only just. We were stopped 8 times for things like going over a white line on the road and asked for dollars each time. We then spent 4 hours at the ukraine border- a very long day. We're now waiting for our spare part before we can carry on following the E on the compass. Itching to get going.

heading to iasi to cross the border into moldova. Process has been v slow due to broken suspension. Stayed with very kind romanian who has done temp fix to last til odessa. Northern romania is stunning and ppl are lovely.

staying at baia mare tonight, just in from the hungary/ romanian border. Heading into the mountains to maramures area tomorrow. Can't wait.
