Hi, I'm Clare and I'm mighty scared but very excited about this challenge of a lifetime. I'm a very 'amateur' amateur jockey but I have managed to notch up a rather unusual CV of horse race wins, so the obvious next one is the toughest horserace in the world!
When not riding out in Newmarket, point to pointing, hunting or travelling, I am involved with investing in and working with start up companies. Yes, I'm an accountant, but hopefully not a boring one!
I'm undertaking this crazy challenge to raise money for Spinal Research, they fund really important work which is close to developing treatments and therapies for spinal repair. These have the potential to make a huge difference to the lives of paralyzed people.

Originally from Northern Ireland, I've ridden all my life. In the absence of much finesse on a horse, I mostly enjoy going fast and jumping hedges and previously rode as an amateur jockey. I enjoy travel, horses and Argentine wine, so the Gaucho Derby seemed like a great idea at the time. 3rd in Mongol Derby 2013
