I was born in the rocky mountains of Canada but misspent my youth in the English lake district, swimming (County, Cumberland and Westmoreland) sailing, riding and playing rugby league (County: Cumbria).
Upon moving to London played rugby union, gaining international honours for Norway, and I am also vice president of the Guy’s Hospital.
Now married with 2 children and 2 dogs living in the suburbs I have refused to go quietly onto package holidays in Spain (much to the annoyance of my 2 daughters) and I continue to crave adventures.
In the past 5yrs I have sailed the North Sea and the Atlantic, found and swam with hammerheads sharks and quite a few other spices of shark, completed the first rickshaw rally 2007, and swam the English channel 2008, I am taking a sabbatical at this time for the ski season in France, and in 2010 two friends and I are attempting London to Paris – Running to Dover; Swimming the Channel, and Cycling to France – this has only been completed twice before.
I have been trying to get organise a horse riding expedition in the Heavenly mountains of Kyrgyzstan for the past two years but the Channel swim took up time, so I understand what the difficulty of what is being asked.
