We've finished...not as planned!

Just ended up at the finish line in Ascunsion with *'Mayan the force be with you'* and *'Another cup of tea'*...after a few solid days of travel!

After not managing to enter San Pedro Prison we left La Paz (Friday PM) went on an 12 hour overnight bus to Uyuni (arrived at 7am) to see the Salt Flats. I doubt whether the Mototaxi would have handled the roads or whether we could handle the cold.

Salt Flats were good, then got a 6 hours 4x4 journey over to Tupiza arriving at 11pm the same day...the Mototaxi would have been slow and painful although not as dangerous as day 1.

Then woke up at 4am to get a bus for 3 hours to Villazon...then took a 5 hour bus to San Salavador followed by a 1 hour taxi to Jujuy to board our next 12 hour bus journey at 5pm to Resistencia...then we took a 4 hour bus to Clorinda before hopping into Paraguay and a 1 hour taxi ride to Ascunsion. It is fair to say this would have taken Moby the Mototaxi 5-7 days !

Doesn't that sound fun...but we did do it overland in the name of charity!

Booked into the lovely Guarani Hotel in Ascunsion (Monday 1pm) and plan to head for drinks with the rest of the Junketeers and the Adventurists which should be interesting...unless the Adventurists change the location again it will be at Kilkenny's...nothing like embracing the local culture!

In summary from Huancayo to Ascunsion it has taken:

**Part A: Huancayo to Puno (1200km)**

- 1 mototaxi - No paperwork - 1 million false promises - 4 near death experiences - 0 border crossings - 40+ pointless emails from the Adventurists - 1 puncture - 2 poor moustaches

**Part B: Puno to Ascunsion (2750km)**

- 8 buses - 1 raft - 1 boat - 1 reed boat - 1 4x4 truck - 3 taxis - 3 border crossings - 2 cracking moustaches

Now a flight to Buenos Aires tomorrow!

Transito Policia!

After a few beers...it all fell into place!

The bus journey to Huancayo did finally happen, although the bus was better than National Express it didnt stop the locals laughing at us Gringos! After 7 hours of pain we arrived at 6.30am to frab a couple of hours of kip...when George a 60 year old Yank decided to wake us up with some half arsed press ups!

Despite torrential downpour, more delays and pretty dodgey mototaxis the craic in Huancayo has been really good. We´ve had a go on the bikes and its fair to say the results were mixed! I´m generally pretty unsafe and Ian managed to hit tha back of the football net from 80 yards! However wee have fashioned some helmets...the local Police Force! (Pictures to follow).

It is fair to say this is not going to be a holiday, but we will have guns for arms on our return as they don´t steer very well! In short we are looking at 12 hour+ days going 20mph....the joy!

Launch party was last night and turned out to be a messy affair which included Guinea Pig....Yum! As usual Ian ended up on mic...however the band didnt know to Dignity by Deacon Blue...so it was just the Voice!

The Mayor is throwing a fiesta for us tonight in the town square...see what happens...then hopefully a Wednesday AM start!!!!

Adios

It´s off, it´s on...we are in Lima!

Finally arrived in Lima, but a few days ago it looked like it might never happen. Monday 11PM - email saying Honda had pulled out and there were no Mototaxis...then they found some Chinese ones (sound good!) however there is a 3 day delay!!! Tuesday AM - trying to rearrange flights via insurance company...no way! Wednesday PM - left Heathrow after a delay Thursday PM - arrived in Lima logged on and we were told our train journey to the start lines has been cancelled... Too much to worry about...where is the pub?
