The Big Race Across MongoliaI am honored to have been awarded a place in the worlds longest toughest horse race across Mongolia. The race saw thousands of applications from world class riders and adventures from across the globe, so it is truly a privilege to be among the competitors and partake in such a unique and life changing challenge!On 22 August 2009 I will find myself facing a gruelling 1000km race across the empty wilderness of Mongolia. This will be no ordinary horse race. The Mongolian Derby is not just a test of the horse's speed, but also of our skills as riders, endurance and toughness. <img src="images/gallery09/6114/400x400.jpeg" />  As well as competing in the challenge of a serious and dangerous adventure, my plan is to raise money for two charities.The first is Mercy Corps, a charity that exists to alleviate suffering, poverty and oppression by helping people build secure, productive and just communities. The money raised will be used to fund initiatives run by local groups in remote parts of Mongolia that receive very little support from elsewhere.The second is The Cambridge Colorectal Unit. In 2005 I was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer at a very young age and was successfully treated with help from the unit.
