Team Empower

Alisa Vermay

A little about myself: to start with my grandfather was a jockey and my mother is a trainer therefore I have grown up with race horses, once I turned 17 I knew then that I had the passion to become a trainer. I have ridden trackwork at Flemington the home of the famous MELBOURNE CUP in Australia for the past 8 years. In that time i have been privileged enough to have worked for some great trainers and people,to name a few The Legend himself Bart Cummings for approximately 4 years,Lloyd Williams, the very astute Steve Mckinnon, Dean Lawson, Steve Richards, Patrick Payne and John Hawkes.
I was also fortunate enough to have been riding horses such as God's Own, Wonderful World, Swick, Sirmione, Empires Choice, Faumacino and Real Saga to name a few. Riding horses of this Calibre gave me the opportunity to travel to Brisbane for a very successfully 2007 Carnival with Bart Cummings.

I have wanted to travel overseas to broaden my experience and to create exposure before I obtain my trainers licence and I was working in Singapore as a senior track rider for 6 months and am now back working in Melbourne to improve my fitness. I am lucky enough to have met a lot of people in the racing industry who have connections in several other countries where I will be able to obtain work ie. England, Ireland, Dubai, France and The U.S.A.
