JAN08/09
WE ARE ALMOST INTO THE LAST LEG OF OUR JOURNEY. WE HAVE SEEN A LOT OF FASCINATING THINGS, FROM A MODERN LOOKING INDIA TO WOMEN STILL WASHING THEIR LAUNDRY ON THE RIVER BANKS. THE DAY OF JAN 8 WAS UNEVENTFUL. WE HAD A SLOW DAY, STOPPING FOR COFFEE A COUPLE OF TIMES AND ENDING THE DAY BEFORE IT DARK. WE STAYED IN A AVERAGE HOTEL, PAYING ABOUT $15.00, HAD HOT WATER BUT NO TOWELS SO WE DRIED OFF ON OUR SHEETS.
JAN09
NORM AND I OVERSLEPT THIS MORNING SO WE DIDNT GET STARTED UNTIL AFTER 9:00. WE MUST BE GETTING OLD. THE COUNTRYSIDE IS REALLY STARTING TO LOOK TROPICAL, PALM TREES, COCONUT TREES AND RICE FIELDS ABOUND. THE DAYS HAVE REALLY STARTED GETTING HOT. WE WERE HAVING A PRETTY GOOD DAY WHEN, HOLY CRAP, THE "WE DONT FIT" TEAM HAD ANOTHER BREAKDOWN. THERE WENT ANOTHER MOTOR. BUT YOU KNOW THESE GUYS HAVE HORSE SHOES BECAUSE A CABBY STOPPED RIGHT AWAY TO ASK THEM IF THEY HAD TROUBLES AND THEN TOOK THEM TO A SHOP WHERE THE MECHANIC HAD THEM GOING AGAIN IN NO TIME. WE MANAGED TO MAKE IT TO MANGALORE WHICH IS WHAT WE HAD PLANNED ON FOR THE DAY. WE FOUND ANOTHER FOUR STAR HOTEL FOR ONLY $50.00 A NIGHT. A REALLY NICE PLACE. ONLY TROUBLE WAS, THERE WAS A WEDDING HAPPENING AND IT WAS LOUD ENOUGH FOR THE WHOLE CITY TO HEAR.Â
WE HAVE ONLY GOT ABOUT FOUR OF FIVE HUNDRED KMS LEFT. SO WE ARE CROSSING OUR FINGERS THAT NO ONE HAS ANY MORE BREAKDOWNS. Â
