Go Gaze or Go Home Featuring the LEGENDARY Sophie-Ellis Bextor
Terrence Higgins Trust (THT)
THT is so very special to us. Sexual health testing, treatment and prevention is so incredibly important for every one of us. Even you. People we both love are affected by the long-term impact of momentary decisions that have life-long implications. We would like to make our adventure one which is likely to be at times stupid, reckless and fun, while raising a little little cash to help those who are helping those that need it most. Outreach to marginalised populations requires innovative approaches and THT are a pioneer in innovative outreach. Terry Higgins was one of the first people in the UK to die of an AIDS-related illness. He died aged 37, on 4 July 1982 at St Thomas' Hospital, London. By naming the trust after Terry, the founder members – his partner and friends – personalised and humanised sexual health, HIV and AIDS in a very public way. We were both introduced to THT by our good friend Andie Dyer. We have watched Andie work tirelessly to promote THT. Andie invited me to my first pride parade in London, probably 2010, marching with THT. It was amazing. I convinced Liam to join the following year - it was even better. Visibility is critical for us all. I have marched every year since, that I have been able to. In July 2023 we are definitely representing THT. Who are THT - They strive for a future where there are no new cases of HIV, where people living with HIV get the support they need and there is good sexual health for all. THT's mission End new cases of HIV by 2030. Be here until the last person living with HIV needs us. Make sexual and reproductive health the priority it deserves to be. What this means to our service users, stakeholders and supporters There are no new HIV cases. People living with HIV get the support they need. Everyone can access good quality sexual and reproductive health services and information tailored to their individual needs. HIV, sexual and reproductive health are free from shame and stigma. Everyone in our organisation respects and values diversity, creating an environment that is inclusive of all, and by working in partnership with others we reduce inequalities in sexual health.
