The last day of driving our trusty LTBOM wouldn’t be complete without a side trek to an elephant sanctuary...amazing that we paid non-inflated prices but still sad to see such majestic animals in chains.
We’re still pinching ourselves that we made it without a lot of major breakdowns...just a complete transmission and clutch cable change out, spark plug replacement and carburetor clean out was all over the last 2 weeks of constant terrain changes.
And we’re even more thrilled about crossing that finish line tomorrow as a team!
We had to earn some extra rupees by joining the rickshaw walas and offer luxury rickshaw rides to afford our habits that may require back alley dealings while in Kerala...but all enjoyable while cruising our LTBOM beachside!
After downing a beer tower yesterday, we’re continuing our beachside shenanigans today by trading in LTBOM for a golf cart, an isolated beach all to ourselves and probably my a nap in tranquility
Prohibition shmo-hibition! And add on hookah!
We almost snuck by the police to get onto the Mumbai-Pune Express but were politely denied just as we were about to make our great getaway at 40 kmh...
Made it over the Western Ghats mountains but our LTBOM required a full transmission change and some other bippity bops related to the clutch and gear. But beer helps pass the repair time away.
We weren’t so lucky with the regular toll police in Maharashtra...they found issue with our petrol reserve but it was all “sorted”
We have made it to Surat, only a little bit of night driving required
Checking out the royal golf gardens in Vadodara
After a day of chai at straightup truck stops where there are the Indian versions of “pinups” poster, we’ve made it to Ahmedabad slightly ahead of the rains...went back to grab something and found a new furry friend taking a nap on our cozy pillows
Driving through the hills to Udaipur in...rain??!!! And the gear auto shifted from 3 to 2...is that normal?
Just waiting for our tercerio amigo Ben to make it over from New Jersey!
