Beautiful drive today past Jog falls to Sirsi, where we are spending the night. Loving the country side of India!
Finally made it before the sun went down. Hell are we going to drive in the dark with those monster buses out there trying to get you!
Finally arrived in Cochin!
one last day of work before we take off!!! getting excited :)
Hey there! This is Siriol aka Siri or just simply Loser!
Yes, that’s right: LOSER! Dating back to 2009 when we travelled to Thailand together where she was losing all her stuff, I chose this extremely suitable name for her. By now she must have also lost her mind, choosing me as her travel buddy!
Since then we have been on shorter trips together. But now it’s at the time that we change this! Expecting to drop all our senses of shame in regards to body hygiene, female hormonal crankiness and personal space, we are embarking on this incredible journey through India. What a phenomenal idea!!!
She’s the older one of the two of us… in saying this by no means wiser. I mean, come on… She’s participating in a Rickshaw race!?
Generally she is known to be a bit accident prone. The likelihood of us crashing, while she is driving is very close to 100%... Which already scares me now! But hey – no risk, no fun! We will master the art of Tuktuk-driving. A skill which is useful for life, right?
However, under all this clumsiness lies a beautiful, hilariously funny and heartwarming soul. Together with a smart head on her shoulders, this trip is, as it was made for her.
Catherine
Catherine, otherwise fondly known as Klepto for having the tendency to “nick” my stuff and then claim that I lost it, is one of my few friends crazy enough to join me without hesitating on this nutcase adventure.
Our love for traveling has bonded us since the day we met. Clever, funny and fearless, who doesn’t take shit from anyone, Catherine is a true friend I can always count on to hold my hair up when I need to throw up!
Her credentials for this race? Fighter spirit with an unstoppable determination to master any challenge thrown in her path… and maybe 6 words of Hindi. Currently training for a Tough Mudder in Germany, Catherine can push the damn rickshaw all the way to the finish line if need be – back-up plan sorted!
Ready to wield a machete to fight off snakes, navigate a route around cows, chickens, pot holes and crazy Indian drivers with no sense of road rules - I couldn’t imagine a better partner to get lost in India with!
Siriol
*slight correction: she was training for a tough mudder until she broke her leg jumping in a river! But all good now! Back up plan saved!
