Team Team Stunt Pilot

Övörkhangai, Mongolia

We're going to miss the lovely dirt roads; as we only have 500 km of tarmac to cover. Saw two teams getting towed and we heard of lots of mechanical problems with others. Not for us and the 3 Scots we're convoying with (although they have a troublesome sump guard). Can't believe we're almost there! We'll be perfectly on time to join the 5th week Finish Line Party in UB

Bayanhongor, Mongolia

Quite a detour to find a way to go eastwards as we encountered a river last night, so we spent all morning on a 50 km "track" having to push the cars out of the sand a few times, and seeing no people or traffic except for one truck. Adventurous! Approaching good roads and yes, UB apparently is 10 hrs away..!

, Altai Mountains

Serious torture! First so stuck in the mud only a big 4x4 could pull us out. Then extreme vibrations on dry washboard roads. Broken rear shock absorber, broken left rear brake, another tyre and exhaust about to fall of. All of it sort of fixed today. Lots of stranded teams. We are confident we will make it to Ulaanbataar

Khovd, Mongolia

The weather threw a huge amount of roet in het eten! We are fine but we teamed up with two Rotterdam teams of which one got stuck in the mud and broke part of the drive train. The roads have turned in mud baths, but it seems to improve quickly as we talk to locals while the car is ** some text is missing **

М52, Russia

Mongolia! That is, the border control zone in the mountains. Here with about 20 other rally cars; with thunderstorms approaching we'll set up tents on the car park, and then wait and see what's going to happen tomorrow/day after/... In the last town we got supplies for days so we're good; and we learned how to play Aussies cards game 500 so we'll make the best of this situation :)

Astana, Kazakhstan

What a contrast; a three lane highway led us into Kazakhstans capital. Impressive city! Also met Kazakh bureaucracy when we had to wait 8 hours to register ourselves as tourists. Horse meat and sheep soup for lunch with a local. Now of to Semey! Crossing the border tomorrow, Mongolia is coming closer!
