Day 13 & 14 - Final run and finish! 302km from Nagarahole National Park to Kochi on Day 13 and the symbolic finish on 14!
What an amazing trip, 2 weeks on a tuk tuk covering entire India north to south! 2,632km, nearly 200hr driving and 24 breakdowns and many many unexplainable situations. The Indian hospitality, invites to religious ceremonies and for chai at peoples homes, engine fixes for £2 and being pulled into an unaccountable number of random people’s selfies! A very unique experience!
Thanks to all of you whom have donated to our chosen charity CoolEarth, we have raised £2,356 to safe a little part of our Planet!
Day 12 - Longest day so far! We aimed for the mountains and Nagarahole National Park as the next morning a safari was awaiting us. Setting off at 06:00 and a strickt no unnecessary stopping regime got us covering the 461km in just over 14hr. Very productive and breathtaking views along the way!
Day 11 - Goa - Om Beach. 186km and a challenging journey. A day which shapes character they say.. After arrival we couldn’t find a place to stay, got lost and at the point we thought we had it we broke down. Just after dark we managed to get ourselves sorted by a videocall to our Dutch backup mechanic Henk and by ourself a next to the road carburettor deep clean. We definitely are learning a skill here..!
Day 10 - Resting day. No km’s, no breakdowns! We spend the day in Goa. Finally a good night of sleep, massage in the morning and sea fishing in the afternoon. At night the freshly caught Barracuda ended up on our plates after skilful preparation by the local chef!
Day 9 - 194km with the palm trees and beaches of Goa in sight! We had an early start, stopped plenty and enjoyed the journey through the changing landscapes. The tuks kept up considerably well knowing they kept us going for almost 1700km! Arriving in Goa we found our spot for two nights as we planned a rest day on Day 10.
Day 8 - 258km-10hr drive and a day at the office for some. A late start resulted in our first night time drive, an experience to say the least!
Day 7 - Mumbai & Pune traffic chaos, more breakdowns and steep climbs! A relative late update today as the Pune night live costed us the early start..
Day 6 - A little celebration for the first day both tuktuks finished the 322km route without any breakdowns! The overall breakdown tally reads 15. Along the route we have been invited to an Indian ceremony honouring the birthday of the monkey-god, got stuck on the beach and conquered the Mumbai ring road traffic madness! The biggest victory, we survived the dry-state (within Rajasthan alcohol is on probation).
Day 5 - 245km over an amazing scenic route along the Statue of Unity. The world tallest statue (182mtr) which has been opened October 2018.
Day 4 - 244km Indian express way. Multiple breakdowns but another great experience! Slept overnight on a construction site of luxurious villas where they let us stay in the model home for a ‘cash payment’. They were however kind enough to let us use the new swimming pool and cooked us diner.
