Day 13; we started out early with the best of intentions but our tuk tuk wouldn’t pass gas! Lol we probably had to stop over 10 times because we couldn’t keep our power going. First we replaced our carb float, then undid some gas lines, then replaced the spark plug, then thought we had a clog in our gas line...we were running smooth only to here shots behind us as our engine chugged...our spark plug line wasn’t attached properly and melted on the exhaust! Oh but this is what we were in for and and we couldn’t  help but laugh. Our goal ended up being kochi for an early finish and we did it...even with stopping for an afternoon beer at yet another strange  bar where some guy let Adam take his motorbike for a ride lol. So now we are in the most lovely hotel, in Kochi after an amazing seafood dinner waiting to cross the finish line...whenever we decide to wake up because we definitely deserve a sleep in after the last 13 days! We are thrilled to have made the finish line and still loving every moment. Couldn’t have asked for a better partner, teammate and friend to go on this adventure with - we did it!

Day 12; Goa Goan Gone! After a night in luxury we left Goa and hit the road to find a wild life sanctuary. Unfortunately India got the best of us today. My navigation skills led us astray a few times (crossing the same bridge 3-4 times!) and realized roads were getting busier which meant less kilometres and no animals :( We found refuge in a “bar” (aka open room in a basement much resembling a Legion??) Though they served us at first, we think we were asked to leave? Ironically this was right after I used the washroom which I think was male only (I was the only female in the place!) Roads got busier, heat got hotter and our patience ran thin. We decided to head straight down the coastline and call it quits, only to again get lost trying to find our hotel. Cancelled that one. Rebooked. Lost again with the annoyed police officer telling us we were going down a one way...we didn’t think those existed with how everyone drives here. Made it to a hotel a finally feeling a bit defeated. At least we have warm beer in our bag. Tomorrow’s a new day and spirits will be regained as we make our way to the finish line-2 more days and then a couple days of well deserved RnR

Day 11; a good sleep in, a proper breakfast (no chips and cookies!) and actually prepared with cash, gas, oil, water... ahhh what a day! We tried to get some more kilometres in so that we can get to a wildlife sanctuary tomorrow. Midday we stopped in a town for beer where some guy led us around to a sketchy place...so we left and found another place....that was even more bizarre; it looked like a rooftop patio only to be in a basement with our own “private eating room”?? Lol After that we resorted to rickshaw karaoke!!! Can’t beat the tunes on the road with amazing views!

Tribe of Lambs

"We design jewelry. We produce everything ethically, in India. We use our profits to fund projects with HIV positive kids, in India. "India has the third largest HIV epidemic in the world – where approximately 2.1 million people are living with the virus, and about 170,000 of those people are children under the age of 15. Due to lack of knowledge about the disease, many of these HIV+ children either lose their parents, due to death or abandonment, or their families are simply unable to provide the necessary care. We partner with Indian NGO’s and homes which work solely for the care, education & rights of children that are either infected or affected by the HIV virus. Together we define areas that Tribe of Lambs can fund to support their work, support the children and relieve financial constraints. Our projects focus on: Funding education through tuition, school supplies, uniforms & transport Creating safe places for learning, growth & development Providing access to facilities & resources required to build bright futures Awareness initiatives in Canada, UK & India"

Cool Earth

"With half of the world’s rainforest lost over the past forty years, we need a new approach to conservation. The only way to halt destruction is to align the future of the rainforest with the people best placed to protect it. This means placing forest in the hands of the people who rely on its survival for their survival. Cool Earth does just that. "
