Harry and the goose
Whether you know it or not, we all know someone who is, or has suffered from mental illness. It can kick in at any time, to anyone, and in it comes in many different forms and magnitudes. Unfortunately, many people experiencing mental illness stay quiet due to the stigma and lack of understanding surrounding it. We want to do our part to help change that. Now we aren’t here to preach as to how every person should go about achieving their best possible mental health. Everyone has their own approaches and techniques. Some of us are lucky enough to have loved ones that will listen and support through thick and thin. Some of us are lucky enough to have pets that don’t have a choice but to listen and support through thick and thin. Some of us read, some of us paint and some of us think it’s a great idea to buy a really bloody shit car and drive it over 10,000 miles from London to Mongolia. What we are here do though, is to is let you know that if your way of coping isn’t working out for you, or you don’t even have a way of coping yet and you're taking each day as it comes, to not be afraid to reach out for help. Yes, you’re not wrong, it is bloody difficult and is just a bit shit. But having the conversation and knowing your options can make one hell of a positive difference. If you, or someone you know, are going through a tough time and don’t know where to start, check out the Beyond Blue website at: www.beyondblue.org.au. Yes, the websites got a trillion and one tabs, and it is a bit overwhelming, but you don’t have to read them all. Pick the ones that are most suited to you, and go through them when you get a bit of spare time. If you’re more of a phone person, they’ve also got a 24/7 phone line that can put you through to a trained mental health professional at ph: 1300 22 4636. Or if you’re simply just wanting to learn more about mental health, Beyond Blue have that sorted too. Just jump onto this link here: https://www.beyondblue.org.au/the-facts Beyond Blue is doing some incredibly meaningful work across Australia in raising awareness, educating and supporting everyone in achieving their best mental health; but they can’t do it without funding. If you’ve read this far, please take 5 more minutes out of your day to flick through a few bucks to our fundraising campaign. Even if it’s a coupla dollarydoos, it goes a long way. And if you want to do that little bit extra, share the awareness and let your friends and family know about Beyond Blue, and that help and support is out there if they need it. Thanks for reading, and an even bigger thanks to everyone that has donated this far! Jesus lousies you’ve made a difference!
This is a race for charity, so as a part of this we are going to attempt to raise £500 GBP for Cool Earth. They're an amazing NGO based out of the UK that is doing some really cool work protecting endangered rainforests in order to combat global warming and protect ecosystems. In the words of Sir David Attenborough: “Helping Cool Earth to halt tropical deforestation makes a real difference. Perhaps the biggest difference we will make in our whole lives.” .... yeh, he really bloody said that... go and fact check it yourself.
