after an interesting journey here with some ropey night driving. We have arrived, not going to make Saturday's party so we are going to stay here for the night and get some rest and possibly a few beers!

after some solid driving through the night we have made it to khovd at the official rally stop off point. A good nights rest then hit it hard tomorrow towards Altai.@

we stayed here last night. Going to pop to hot spring lakes on way then camp up just outside Mongolia to hit the border first thing tomorrow! we left briefly this morning after getting our registration sorted. Only to find that 20kms down the road Alan started missing again. We pulled over and reset the points, replaced the condenser and moved on. No change! Back at garage having it looked at. At this rate Almaty could be out of the question and a rendezvous in semey will be on the cards!

registration issue sorted, fine avoided. Maybe the fact we showed the policeman a photo of Alan made him feel sorry for us. We will be registered tomorrow morning then of to Almaty, 1200kms going to have to put in some long hours to catch up on lost time.

Alan is revived, problem fixed for 5000 tenge. Now just the visa issue to sort out then on our way to Almaty!

after running progressively worse over the last 2 days Alan finally gave up with two almighty backfires including some flame from exhausts. Then refused to start. We beached up on side of motorway to wait for sun up. As we were emptying van the fire engine team passed us and is now towing us to a garage. Fingers crossed we can get back on the road again!
