Day 1
Aaaand there off!! Would you look at them go! Oh wait.. What's this? Theyve broken down after 200m. Classic.
Our first day was a mixed bag. There were highs, and there were lows. Thankfully we had the ridiculously helpful locals to steer us towards some resemblance of success.
We managed to overcome running out of fuel, stretching a gear cable, snapping that gear cable, and a broken gearbox. And we only started driving at 1pm. Think of how much damage we can do on the second day when we get up at the crack of dawn! Woooo.
There was a definite sense of achievement though as our friendly Indian guide showed us into a 3* hotel with 5 or 6 other rickshaw teams who had only gotten as far as we had. Couple that up with a new gearbox costing a whopping £4 inclusive of 1 hours labour. Our heads were well and truly lifted.
The day was rounded off with a well earned curry and a cheeky dram of whiskey.
Wish us luck on the next leg, we're not sure where we're going yet, but we'll go there in style and grace.
Remember to keep you generous hats on please and give a little to the charity CoolEarth which is the organisation paired up with the rickshaw run.
