The first blog....

I thought I'd get this blog underway as our team have about a month to go before we set off on our charity fundraiser across India! Now please bear with me as I've never written blogs before, mainly because I've never done anything as interesting as this.

First of all I should start with what we are doing. 6 of us are possibly doing the stupidest thing we've done in our lives and drive 2 motorised rickshaws across India! These vehicles, if indeed they can be called such, are essentially lawnmowers with seats on. Basically one of these:

So who are we? Well we're a mixed bunch from a variety of backgrounds and professions who have come together to form 2 teams:

So why are we doing this mad dash across India? For our own amusement or to do a bit of sightseeing? Well, yes, but also we're doing it to raise money for a very good cause. We're supporting a charity call 'Chicks' who are trying to raise £5500 for a clinic in an orphanage in India. We plan to finish the rally close to the orphanage so we aim to raise this money by the time we pass the finish line. If anyone reading this wants to donate to this great cause please visit:

So what's the plan? Well the rally is due to start in a placed called Shillong in north east India on the 5th August 2015. There is no set route! Therefore we're planning on our own.... But of course no plan ever survives reality so I expect we'll end up going wherever fate takes us... so long as it points us roughly towards south west India. The objective of the rally is to finish at a place called Cochin around the tip of India. I made a computerised Jonny Age 5 map below:

A small charity with a big heart, Chiks continues to work tirelessly to try and improve the lives of those far less fortunate than us. We need your help to make this project a reality. Every penny, dollar or cent raised will translate directly to bricks, man hours, vital equipment and expertise. The project will require the modification and equipping of an excisting building, purchasing equipment and staffing the project. As such we aim to raise is £5500 to support the Medical Centre project. We need your help to make this a success and we are not ashamed to ask for it.
