The motel's restaurant is vegetarian only. And there's nowhere else nearby. Nooooooooooo!

Wandered around Jaipur this morning, saw the worlds largest sundial. Then we hit the road and covered about 120km to reach Sikar. We're back on normal roads which means the busses are trying to kill us again. Hopefully a big day tomorrow to get us close to the finish.@
Jaipur
Apparently my text message update didn't work. Anyway we're now in Jaipur having left Agra this morning and getting here at lunch time.
Did all the tourist stuff in Agra yesterday, Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and the Baby Taj. The Taj Mahal is impressive although walking around it in bright sunlight which also bounces off the white marble platform is seriously bright.
We got a decent meal last night too, Agra has a Pizza Hut. In terms of emersing ourselves in Indian culture it may sound inappropriate but every place we've eaten so far has had maybe one other group of people eating there while Pizza Hut was packed, so clearly it's what the locals do.
Good roads and light traffic for the drive to Jaipur, but once we reached the city the usual chaos erupted. I think once we leave here we lose the good roads, but there's only 600km to go and time in hand to do it. Current plan is to spend tomorrow morning in Jaipur seeing the sights then it on with the final stage of our journey, Jaisalmer.

Our plans for an early start have been dashed. We're locked inside this hotel and so far we've been unable to find any staff to let us out, this is after we agreed with the manager that we wanted to leave at 5

Spent the morning in Varanasi so only 6 hour on the road today. Reached Fatehpur at dusk rather than in the dark and found a hotel easily, makes a welcome change. NH2 expressway all day, dull but fast and by using it we should get to Agra tomorrow.

Taxi rickshaws in Varanasi are hilarious, none of them seem to know where anything is. Our journeys this far have averaged three stops for the driver to ask directions, one stop for the driver to buy tobacco and they finish with an argument over change.@

Drove through two thunderstorms this morning, when it rains in India it really goes for it, great fun. Also saw a couple of guys riding an elephant down the road. Now in Varanassi at a hotel with a working shower and ac, its like we've died and gone to heaven

Nowhere is serving food so crisps, biscuits and mountain dew for dinner

Another day, another drive in the dark followed by searching for a hotel in the dark, another of India's finest hotels for the night. The Tuk is round the corner in the station car park, hopefully its still there tomorrow. Varanasi 150km away, hope to reach it tomorrow lunchtime
