Barnaul, Russia
Amazingly made into Russia after, smashing our sump, getting stuck in the sand several times, flat tyres and snapping both our leaf springs all in 3days, of course he best part was, when we were just about to admit defeat 200km for anywhere who and what turns up......4 Russians with a diesel "hot muffler" generator just for welding, now back on the road so fingers crossed we can at least make it into Mongolia!@
Saryshagan, Kazakhstan
well it has been a long few days, got stuck in the sand 200km from anywhere Tom pulls us out, went straight through an army base in the middle of cross fire training, smashed our sump put a nice hole in it Tom fixed it, and yet we are 1000km closer to Mongolia@
Almaty Province, Kazakhstan
we had s few days in Almaty, slightly drunken with fellow ralliers, had a slow journey to the beautiful Charyn canyon, lots of photos taken, 6km walk, lots of sweating done and a delicious plate of tuna eaten for lunch, now on we go
Tatti, Kazakhstan
police stops 2, bribes paid 1, caught on camera once and Jess almost got another number from another handsome devil of a police man, onto Almaty
Shymkent, Kazakhstan
well that was a long way round to Shymkent, only took us 11hrs!! Very peaceful border crossing, Jess almost swapped numbers with a handsome devil of a border guard! Now sat on the roadside cooking pasta, Dans playing football manager, Pat listening to Harry Potter and Jess contemplating on going back to the border to get the number!
Tashkent, Uzbekistan
we spent a relaxing day in Samarkand, enjoying there festivities, now in Tashkent and it been oh so exciting as we got to experience the Tashkent metro, sadly we are not allowed to take photos as the stations were originally built as nuclear bunkers! Onto Kazakhstan tomorrow
Bukhara Province, Uzbekistan
made it over the border after a 2hour wait and finding ourselves stuck in the sand but on the plus side not a single bribe paid or a dollar spent, on our way to Bukhara for a shower and a cold beer.
Ashgabat, Turkmenistan
spent the last two nights treating ourselves in the Grand Turkmen hotel, swimming pool and all. Ashgabat really is the strangest, eccentric and marbled city we have ever been to, sadly we couldn't take many pictures as it's illegal, on out way to Merv for the evening then Uzbek on the 24th
BÄjgirÄn, Iran
currently in no mans land, already manage o crack the rear lights again, woops! Turkmenistan, we are on our way
