Our Team

 **What We Are Doing:**

With the shared belief that everyone needs a little adventure in their lives Megan Moran and Conor Lorimer are going to attempt to drive a mototaxi, the smallest and least practical vehicle available on a whole continent,![](images/gallery09/3477/18583/400x400.jpeg) from Lima, Peru to Auscion, Paraguay, 4,000km in two weeks.  The reason why we are doing this is because we are raising money for a charity called Operation Smile that provides free cleft lip and palate surgeries to children around the world.  Operation Smile mobilizes a world of generous hearts to heal children's smiles and transform lives across the globe.  Help us to change the world one smile at a time. You can learn more about Operation Smile at www.operationsmile.org or by clicking on donate and reading about our personal story and commitment to Operation Smile.

**Who We Are:**

I think that the best part about our team is that we have never actually met.  We share a real cool friend and friends of friends always end up being pretty cool...let's hope!!!!   We do however share two truths and one lie about ourselves.  We will leave it to you to decide which is which.

1)Neither of us has ever riden a motorcycle before

2)We are both directionally challenged

3)We are chronically late for airplanes

It doesn't really matter which is a truth or which is a lie I think there is some adventure lying ahead of us (if we make it there)!!!

Our Detroit Player.  Actually a Grosse Pointe player but Detroit sounds so much tougher.  After growing up in the hoods of Grosse Pointe I went on a quest to see it all and do it all before I leave this earth.  That quest has landed me here in Cairo, Egypt as the Country Director of Operation Smile.  When I found out I could ride a mototaxi 4,000km through South America while raising money for a charity that is so close to my heart as I am able to witness on a daily basis the dramatic impact we have on peoples lives it was a no brainer.  I was in.  My partner was originally another Operation Smile who has become a great friend but as you do in Operation Smile he had a sudden move to South Africa and can't participate so Connor joined in for the fun.  Like I said we have never met, or talked on the phone, I was calling him Collin for quite some time until my friend corrected me and I still have to look at his facebook page to remember his last name.  Let's hope he is cool.  My Father says he isn't worried about this little adventure.  I think he should be.

Our Canadian contingent hails from Squamish, British Columbia.  After graduating in 2006 from UBC, I have spent my time living and working at a forest environmental education centre and escaping to South East Asia, England and Argentina.  My training regiment to prepare me for this excellent adventure involves running on a treadmill in a full garbage bag body suit while watching MacGyver for hours on end so I can learn to fix our mototaxi with Double Bubble, bailing twine, and good looks.  I am embarking on this adventure with the cautious advice of my mom, Anne, muted laughter from my Dad, Rowly, love and admiration from my younger sister, Julia, and two motorcycle lessons from my older brother, Stefan. I am tall, bold, ice cold, and ready for tom-foolery.
