These Belgian friends are not new to the game. After a few road trips through Europe, they also toured the Californian coast from Los Angeles, to Las Vegas ending up in San Francisco while driving a hippie bus in 2012. Their friendship is based on challenges and experiences. They triumphed over this for years with the groundbreaking projects of 'DrumSpirit' and today at 'vzw Heeren Deweer' in the playful pop-up concept of Dadipark.
It had been quiet for a while around the theme of 'adventure travel' due to family and other projects. Until the concept of the Rickshaw Run was discovered and both friends were able to fit this adventurous expedition into their agendas.

Care4Lou
In September 2021, Lou (then 14 years old) was diagnosed with Friedreich's Ataxia (FA), an extremely rare, progressive, neuromuscular disorder. There is no cure. And when doctors offer a child no perspective, his world collapses ... . It's a terrible disease. Period. Recently there has been an additional weapon in the fight against FA: a drug that slows the progression by half. Test results are hopeful, but there is a big barrier: treatment with Skyclaris, as the drug is called, costs 370,000 euros a year. “For a long time there was a procedure to have it reimbursed,” says Bart Willems, Lou's father. “But last week the parents were told through their neurologist that it will be nothing. The Medicines Reimbursement Committee has disapproved the reimbursement, because the price is too high and there is not enough guarantee of efficacy.” So all help in a battle against time is needed.
