Hey there! I am Sarah, a Canadian Competitive Distance rider destined to compete in the 2014 Mongol Derby. I have been riding competitive distance events for the last 3 years, the past one year on my own self-trained horse “Bentley” (Reg Cricklewood). I am based out of Halton Hills, Ontario.
LongRun Thoroughbreds
Mandate: The purpose of our organization pertains to the welfare of our thoroughbred racehorses when they are no longer able to compete. Our mission is to find them loving, adoptive homes and, perhaps, alternative careers, ensuring them the dignified and happy retirement they so richly deserve. In addition, we aim to educate our owners, trainers, breeders and the general public about the merits of this humane alternative. I chose LongRun as my partner charity because I strongly believe that each horse has something to give to us and deserves a great home. LongRun is more than just preventing retired horses from going to meat, but more about finding them loving homes where they will be fulfilled with meaningful work or companionship. Look for us working together at various promotional events in 2014.
