Begginings

Well it's the night before the Mongol Rally LAUNCH and I can only speak for myself when I say I'm excited, nervous, happy, and even scared! We are here in Stevenage UK, staying at the Kelly's who kindly welcomed us into their home for the final preparations of our journey. Their hospitality has been wonderful as they not only put us up for the few days but have given us plenty of advice and last minute tips for the beginning of our trip. Thank you so much Dale and Séan for your generosity and welcoming us into your home.

I'm now laying in bed doing last minute mental checks making sure we are set to get up and go and yet there always seems to be something missing. Do you know that feeling I'm talking about, when no matter how many times you tell yourself you are ready to go you hesitate and think you've forgotten something. Well I can only say this confidently now; you are always ready. As ready as you can ever be. Regardless of the toiletries you may have forgotten to pack, or that really comfortable sweater you always travel with; you are always ready to embark on a new adventure. It doesn't take much: A foot out the door, a phone call to a long lost or new friend, a left instead of the right you take on your way home everyday, or perhaps it's a personal adventure. One where you finally decide to take up that instrument you always dreamed of playing. The key is not letting yourself tell you that you're missing another something that is preventing you from being ready to go. Now I'm not talking about necessities or things that you could not survive without, yes these are important but also should not be a limiting factor in your hopes and dreams. If it is important to you, you will find a way.

I can only imagine what is in store for the Snow Rats along 15000km of highways, mountain passes and desserts. What ever the road has in store I know we will face every challenge with tenacity and determination and that we will find a way. I know making it to Ulaanbaatar is important to each of us. I know coming home and sharing our experiences is equally if not more important. It is important to us because of the attention we are bringing to such an incredible initiative called Cool Earth! But at the end of the day it's everyone at home and across the globe that we meet and who support us earlier on and along the way that are important to us. Mainly because we are doing this for them. Showing friends and family that adventure awaits at every corner of the globe and that a smile and a wave can be the universal key to happiness.

Well it's late Now, and we need every bit of energy we can muster because we plan on hitting the ground running come go time. We have a lot of ground to cover and many teams to meet so be sure to keep an eye out for our next word out to you!

As always we appreciate all the support from our incredible friends and family and we know that everyone is cheering us on along the way.

Cheerio!
