On the The 2015 Mongol Derby

13 weeks to go...

My first and last entry was 3 months ago and waouw...so much has happened since then. We have secured more funds from generous firms and family and are currently 6K off target. We have started our charity pages and have started raising awareness and funds for them. We have secure some interviews for before and after the race! Most importantly, we are now engaging in some serious training. Time spent in the saddle and in the gym is forever increasing. We have both taken up with a personal trainer to optimise training without injuries and have made a plea to never take the lift ever again. Well, at least up until the derby :-) To come: more fundraising, flight booking, travel/life???insurance, serious training... #bloodyterrified!!!!

Slowly but surely...

I shouldn't really be writing this right now as I should still be studying hard for my specialist exams that are occurring next week in Hannover but my brain is frazzled and I thought that this might provide some light relief. I feel somewhat disconnected from the Derby right now yet up until recently Sian and I have been working our bums off to try and raise funds and slowly very very slowly money has started trickling in. It has felt like a second full time job at most times and thankfully we have jollied each other on as well as benefitted from encouragements and technical support from Sian's loving future husband,James Hubbard. I feel absolutely certain that every single step we take will be worthwhile and my biggest wish is that we raise the funds that we set out to raise for our respective charities, AVSF (Association des Vétérinaires Sans Frontières, France) and Frenchay After Burns Children's club. Watch this space people, the Steppe Sisters are going to rock the Mongol Derby 2015!!!
