Now in Agra

Ok. Seven days after leaving Colva we've made it to Agra... just. Over the last 72 hours we've gone through three batteries and are now in the process of rewiring Sanjeev for the third time. We've done 2000km, with about another 100 to go so hopefully we'll make it on time. It all hangs in the balance though.

To cut a long story short. I blame the roads of India and maybe some overzealous driving. The problems started when Sanjeev suddenly lost power while doing about 50kph on NH3. A brief inspection hinted at the cause of the problem, the battery was no longer there. It seems that all the jolting caused the battery to fly out and drag a fair amount of the electrics with it. This seems to have been a large part of the last few days' problems.

Making this worse, the beautiful scenery of Maharashtra (including an amazing but taxing mountain pass just outside Pune, more of which later) has given way to slightly less pretty, fairly arid and industrialised Northern areas. This, combined with the huge numbers of trucks on the roads with very loud horns and full beam on all the time has made the last couple of days abit of a trial.

Nevertheless, the view of the Taj Mahal and the prospectof seeing dawn break over it tomorrow morning is making the last few days almost worth it.

Anyway. I'm gonna dash because Sanjeev is now pretty much done and we have to check him over.

Mor news later...

Mumbai

And So i have reached Mumbai where the culture of the wast has encroached upon the city, sweeping over the sands in the form of highrise buildings and flashy bars which play chese only acceptable in Oceana.

If you come here you must visit Britannia & Co. where the elderly owner will shake your hand enthusiastically and recount storis from the end of the Raj. He asked if I could send his regards to the Queen.

Tonight onwards to Goa. Blow on winds of adventure and fill my sails once more!

Thanks to Siemens

I needed to raise some money for charity so I bought a bucket, printed some info leaflets and I was wearing a Rickshaw Run t-shirt (bright yellow). I walked around the **Siemens**office where I am working over the summer and I raised a wopping £350 in just a few hours. So we are only around £400 short of the £1000 target.

Only .... days to go

So my first ever blog,

Feels a bit weird really that I am writing this while in an office, where its freezing cold outside, pouring with rain, there is thunder and lighting, hail and it's boring.

I guess it's not that different to what it will be like in India, with pouring rain and all that stuff. But it will be sunny.

So a team update, I don't know how many visas we have but I presume we have all three, James T still doesn't have his driving licence. Dan is off on the 17th August and the two James are off on the 2nd September.

Hugs and Kisses will send another update soon
