First day prepping for Monkey Run

Arrived in lima at 5:00 am. Enjoyed the assertive driving skills of a local Taxi. Lovely breakfast. Traded money with a man on a street corner ... totally legit ... shhhh, yes it is. And got some MUCH needed down time at Alfonso familias home in Lima. Tonight we catch the night coach into ayacucho. Where I hope to sleep for the first time in 48 hrs. Peru, you are beautiful and dangerous. I love you already. ![file](//uploaded-files.theadventurists.com/images/blog/daee85abad9f1be2fdc2fcc118915ee2ba6b4f71.jpeg) ![Uploading file...]()![Uploading file...]()

Well, it's just me. Me and my trusty 'tin horse' that is. This is adventure is shocking to those that know me because it doesn't involve biological horse. The last time I was on a motorbike was when I was kid bumping around my grandpa's ranch in Utah, USA. My confidence level may be higher than it should be in thinking I have what it takes to finish a 800Km dash through the Peruvian mountains. But by golly, I spend all day everyday in the monotony of life and it needs some mixing up. So Tin Horse it is! And I won't turn down any well wishes or luck ... I'll be in need.
