Royal National Lifeboat Institute
RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour rescue service in the UK and Ireland, and their seasonal lifeguards look after people on busy beaches. Their Flood Rescue Team helps those affected by flooding. RNLI crews and lifeguards have saved over 142,200 lives since 1824 but they're more than a rescue service. They influence, supervise and educate people too. Their Community Safety teams explain the risks and share safety knowledge with anyone going out to sea or to the coast. And their international teams work with like-minded organisations to help tackle drowning in communities at risk all around the world.
Cool Earth
COOL EARTH'S VISION IS A WORLD WHERE TROPICAL DEFORESTATION AND DEGRADATION HAS NO ROLE IN CLIMATE CHANGE. With half of the world’s rainforest lost over the past forty years, we need a new approach to conservation. The only way to halt destruction is to align the future of the rainforest with the people best placed to protect it. This means placing forest in the hands of the people who rely on its survival for their survival. Cool Earth does just that.
The Samson Centre for Multiple Sclerosis
The Samson Centre for MS is located on the outskirts of Guildford and provides practical and emotional support for people living with multiple sclerosis in Surrey and surrounding areas. Multiple Sclerosis is a debilitating disease which attacks the central nervous system. It is both permanent and progressive and is the most common neurological condition among young adults today. We are a totally self-funded charity with operational costs in excess of £275,000 per annum. With no funding from the NHS or Government these running costs are met from numerous fundraising activities and generous donations. Exercise and fitness are essential to people living with multiple sclerosis as they help to keep muscles moving and maintain a level of mobility.
