The backlight on our dashboard stopped working yesterday - no bother, says we, it'll just be a bulb. Who needs to see their speed in Turkey anyway, really?

Well, as it turned out on the side of the E-80 this evening, the fuse was blown. But the dashboard backlight is on the same fuse as all of the rear lights. So after 1,000 miles of driving across Turkey, we finally realised we had no brake lights and were driving about at night with an unlit car. Winning.

One 15A fuse later and we're back to normal. Credit to all the Turkish drivers - we didn't get rear ended even a little bit!

We then finally rocked up in Trabzon to find out our room had been double booked and everywhere was full - except one very posh hotel, which our original hosts managed to get us rooms in at basically the same price as we were paying for theirs, as well as giving us tea, showing us to those new rooms and sorting us parking. Absolute diamond geezers.
