Team the lost Boys

Gery

Gery grew up climbing trees and catching butterflies in the Ngong Forest just outside Nairobi! Learning how to sail at the age of five in a dormant Volcano has given him a hot and bubbly passion for the sport! Apres school he pursued that passion by delivering yachts for a couple of years from Cape Town to the Carribean and South Pacific.
Then his love of classic yachts began landing his first job alongside Charlie on that old Pirate ship Zaca! For the last 8 years he has worked and lived like the others on Yachts such as Eleonora and is now currently the first mate on schooner Mariette sailing with Louis and others in Julys trans-at race!
With 11 Atlantic crossings and 2 pacific crossings, his mistress is the sea and his home is where he drops his anchor. Spending most of his time in a hammock under a baobab tree he is an avid ocean racer, paraglider and banjo player, Gery’s love for life is matched only by his love for artichokes ………and rum!

Charlie

Another classic yacht enthusiast! Charlie is from the Cape! Ja bru! Born and raised Saffa he grew up on a wine farm, hated school( that's why we get along) and very quickly discovered his passion for sailing when he went in search of fame, fortune and wind in the med afterwards.
A schooner man by trade! He has spent the last 9 years working on numerous yachts that include the hardened, well oiled machine Zaca A te Moana, the 50 meter majestic graceful Eleonora and the William fife cutter Halloween.
Having Raced all over Europe Charlie is not one to lie down easily whilst there are courses to be had in the victory bag! Hands with the grip of the hulk and teeth that can sheet on the staysail in force 8 gale, Charlie is one of those giants you want with you when you’re heading to the horn in a flour sieve ……. Or to Zanzibar in an Ngalawa!

LOUIS MOURUEAU

Louis is some bloody boy! A half Parisian, half Senegalese and half insane, he was born and raised on the streets of Paris! He got his first sailing gig when he was 16 on the mighty, 38 meter Gaff rig schooner Mariette! Here he spent the next 7 years of his young foolish life learning and mastering the tricks of the trade needed to sail and upkeep a classic vessel with nine sails! Whilst on board he cruised and raced all over the Mediterranean and crossed to the Carribbean a handful of times as well.
Now studying politics in Lousanne, Switzerland, he has so far learnt how to spell the word “anarchist” more than anything!
He regularly returns to race and help out on Mariette and this year was among the 16 crew who sailed her to victory in class in the 2015 transatlantic race from Newport Rhode Island to Cornwall!
Louis is a keen cyclist, is the lead guitarist in a metal band, has the fire of an angry French cockerel, the smile of a west African Senagalese Galago and likes nuts …….and rum!

We are the Lost Boys! We are hoping to win but also hoping to get to kilwa with our balls still intact! You know that line where things start to border on madness and complete fucking stupidity?......... well we are already way past that!
