Day 14

Day 13 was a stop off in Trichy where our convoy decided to paint the town red minus one. Day 14 we were headed for Madurai to see some temples then into the mountains. Oor Maggie was really struggling but couldn't work out why... turns out we'd driven with the handbrake on for a good 10km!!! After that a couple of issues with one of the other teams rickshaws... quick patch job and on to Madurai. Arrived in Madurai dropped the rickshaw off for repairs and went for some food. Got a second rickshaw in for repairs and then off to Sri Meenakshi Temples. Left town for the mountains around 5 and lost The Pilau Pioneers at a busy intersection. Drove around for a bit and after speaking to some locals decided to head for Theni. Some night driving and we arrived at a nice hotel around 8.30pm. Just so happens the Pioneers were here too only in a different hotel!

Day 12

Day 10 was a stopover just outside Chennai. Due to Independence day the area was packed which resulted in a few hours driving about trying to get somewhere to stay! Early start for day 12! Stopped off for some sightseeing in Mahabilapuram which was a nice break from driving! Arrived in Pondicherry around 3pm and checked into a beach resort... spent the rest of the day chilling by the pool and a visit to the beach! Night topped off with a visit to a lovely italian ☺

Day 10

Oh what a day... left Vijayawada around 9am after a continental breakfast (10/10 for the toast and jam). Just so happens a huge festival is on and all the bridges out of the city are blocked... after a couple of hours of driving around and around finally find a way out. Barely made it out of the city when booooom no breaks!!! Break fluid leaking out... steady on to find our convoy! Breakdown number 1! Started taking everything apart when some mechanic appears up the hill and gets to work. The legend went to get what was needed and was back within an hour. Meanwhile caused a bit of chaos on the highway with everyone and their dad stopping off for a nosey and of course one hundred selfies! Another hour passed and everything in the break was replaced and back together! Chancer tried to charge us 4000 rupees... our good mate the uni lecturer went tonto and we agreed on 1500 rupees! Finally made tracks and ended up in Ongole for the night. Big thank you to our convoy The Pilau Pioneers, Dude where's my tuk tuk and Kiwis downunder for staying with us and helping us and a big thank you to team Taj Mahalligan for stopping off to make sure we were okay. #TII

Day 6

A few rough heads the morning of day 5... man down in our team as he was a little worse for wear shall we say. Had a wheel change as the steering was a little wonky which made it even worse! On the hunt for a mechanic we go... turns out it was on back to front! Lovely local's helped us out... back on the road to try find our convoy! Found them around a half hour in... not a bad day driving! Hotel in Digha was shit to the say the least long time arguing with pinochhio! Back on the road at 6.30am today made great timing but lost 2 teams along the way checked in to hotel around 3.30! Casper made a few attempts to kills but luckily escaped unscathed! Chill time for a change ☺

Day 4

Well well well... what a day! Almost a few rolls, nearly crushed by a rickshaw with 10 mattresses on top, headed in the wrong direction for a bit, then turned up at Ajay River to cross only to find out it had been washed away in a monsoon 2 days previous. Extra 2 hours on to our journey after a dodgy 2 hour suicide mission in the dark!

Wouldn't change it... TII!!!

Whats going on so far...

Well well well we finally made it to Shillong Sunday afternoon after 29 hours travelling (almost a missed a flight but lets not go there) and a lot of incompetent bar staff! Sunday night was very tame one drink and eyes were crossing some well needed R&R was in order! Monday brought registration, test driving and pimping. Test drive went as good as could be expected, no injuroes so far... Pimping is going well even kitted out our seats with some extra padding and silver leather! Currently drinking and going to attempt our first curry... guts currently in tact but that might be a different story tonight!

Wish us luck... we need it!!!
