had 3 trips to 4 different mechanics today for the same problem. Eventually got it fixed and "Black Betty" was working well. On way from Liwa to Krui we got caught in a torrential storm and the clutch snapped 1 hour from any civilisation in any direction...luckily 2 guys helped us out by towing/p ** some text is missing **

Stopped early for the night to get some much needed rest after roughing it the last 3 nights in petrol stations, McDonald's car parks and Bakaheuni port! Leaving early tomorrow heading for Liwa then the south Sumatran coast road and hopefully meeting up with team "Going Woop Woop" for a convoy!

managed to get moving again and crawled to Jakarta. Basing ourselves out of a McDonalds in the city centre before trying to find a piston ring first thing in the morning! Roads at night here are scary!!

engine started losing power and cut out twice on the motorway! Had to push it 2km on the Indonesian equivalent of the M6! Doing the only thing I can do in such a moment of despair...crack open my last large bintang I was saving for such an emergency!

Back on the road after 2 days stuck in a tiny village Klangkeng getting the engine rebuilt! Crawling to Jakarta now to break Black Betty's new pacemaker in!!@

turns out we should have been filling the radiator with water regularly as we'll as the main water tank...who'd of thunk it!?! Picking up "Black Betty" at 5pm (hopefully) after a nearly full engine rebuild! Gona try and get to the Sumatra ferry for tomorrow night at the latest.
