10,000 + miles....
... and I F the car in the last 10! On route to the railhead to drop the car off, miss judge the size of a tram track lump and redesigned the right hand size of the rear sub frame. Garage needed a day I had 2 hours! A very slow weavey drive was made to the drop off.
So now the challenge of how to get the car fixed before we collect it.
Finish line! Round 2
After leaving Sam in Ulaan Baatar on sat started the journey back to ulan ude. After alot of hunting for somewhere to tent ended up outside a shop in a holiday camp.
Knocked the border out in the morning and bumped into Jim and Camila. Then cruised on back light the cigar and took some silly photos
National park
We went to Terelj National park, did some horse riding and rafting. Spent the night in a Ger got very cold as we didn't take our sleeping bags. Met some scouts and played some games and wrestled! Went for a dip in the refreshingly cold river.
Then on the way back went to turtle rock and giant Ghenis khana statue. And then the car stopped for a bit.
Then a bit of dinner in bar come night club.
Made it to ulaan baatar!
Yesterday we made it into ulaan baatar. Met Ricky and Nickey a couple of girls from the states. Went to see so traditional Mongolian throat singing, dancing and music. And some contortion! Balanced whole body in the air with here mouth!!!! Then off to the pub :) and tandem bike racing round the square with gkenis as our judge!
Off to Terelj National park today for a spot of camping and some horse riding.
Sukhbaatar
We have made it into Mongolia via the Northern border! Let's hope the Metro can handle the roads.
A shakey start to Mongolia
So the car developed a cough last night. So as we are now off to Mongolia we thought we'd fix it. We went from a cough to not running to not turning over! Patience was running thin, talk about scrapping it was happening.
And then! We put the nearly dead battery in and some new spark plugs and BOOM the bouldar has got another fight in it yet!
Just getting some lunch and then Mongolia here we come again!
We made it!!!!
We made it to the finish line!
However having talked with other teams that are here it seems that the tax or what ever you want to call it was only on the west borders. So we're leaving the finish and heading back to Mongolia! Through the northern border or at least we are going to try.
Small challenge the car found out we were near the end and started to make some interesting noises and become rather jerky.....![file](//uploaded-files.theadventurists.com/images/blog/988269743d0f3360c8012f583239a5a81a758ddf.jpeg)

Due to Mongolia, We are now heading straight to Ulan-Ude across Russia, then possibly using other means of transport to get into Mongolia from there!
Barnaul, gorod Barnaul, Altai Krai
so BOMBSHELL DROPPED!!! The Mongolian's dont want us, unless we pay $5000 (in local) deposit to get car in! This applies to all the Mongol rally teams apaz. So we've just heard. :(
The kaz russ border was a dream through in 1hr must be our fastest crossing yet.
We're on v3 of suspension fix - truck tyre, wood, cable ties and string. So far so good.
Seen so many birds of of prey.
Found our worst 'road' yet.
