made it to a hotel having driven three hours in the dark using head torches! Lost fatmandu to the gods of broken pistons.

The first day on 'The Run'!

Weve had a brilliant first day on 'The Run' today!! Its been mental, amazing, concerning, exciting and damn good fun!!!We had a puncture,and had to change the wheel twice as we got it the wrong way first time, a blocked fuel line and we were stopped by the Army (for a chat and to check out our flight suits!) all within the first 30km.Its amazing how many people can gather around and watch two pale english guys in  american flight suits whilst balancing a ricksahw ion one knee whilst holding a wheel between their teeth!The countryside and people are all beautiful...happy and firendly. Everyone helps everyone - no questions are with no wish for anything in return! 

One high point of the day was being waved to by all the children who's orphanage weve raised money for - they waited patiently all day for us all to pass though - thanks guys n gals, it was really appreciated and we hope our jolley do good does help.The day started in Shillong with a police escort...but before that , there was the launch party last night at the Pinewood hotel in Shillong. That was great and we met loads of people from all over the world...equally as daft and excited as we are! All backgrounds and all ages...retired...students..middle aged and even some Scots!

We met Douglas (our Richsaw)today also - he's very impressive and we think were gonna get on just fine!! all painted up in RAF colours and complete with our iPod boom box, he's running very well and handles like he's on rails!!!

Now, were holed up in the Vishwaratna Hotel in Guwahati....where intrestingly enough two bombs where found yesterday and one exploded last week!!! The city is a huge dirty place with tonnes of hussle and bussle - everywhere you go , people swamp around you wanting to know what were ding. All very friendly though and very helpful!!

Weve managed hook up with two other teams - by complete fluke they managed to get to the hotel, so now its out for dinner and a Phew Kingfishers!!

2 Weeks to Go!

Well in his usual fine and reassuring style, MJ has arranged virtually....well...ermmm...has actually arranged everything thus far! The flights are booked to Dubai, then onto Calcutta for a full day in the hustle & bustle before we take a small flight upto Shillong for our first and last night hotel luxury (?) accomodation!!

Me? Well ive not managed to send my off for my visa's yet so ive got to get my arse in gear!! It hit me last night how much that needs to be done and the things we need to sort to make sure we get through this in one piece! And my God Im excited!!!

The final intructions and some political warnings are coming through thick and fast...plus weve yet to PIMP OUR RICKSHAW so that we can travel in at least some modicum of style and comfort!!

Right, im off to get my passport photo's and International driving licence sent off!!
