Team The Samosa Express

Bihar, India

Great day and great roads. 291km, 8.5 hours, 1 breakdown and 2 immodiums. We have landed in the biggest sh*t hole yet. The hotel is definitely not the five stars we had planned. We will need to hover on the bed for fear of catching something. The town is insane, our ears are ringing from the horns. Big day planned for tomorrow.

Day 1 - Shillong to Guwahati

110km traveled

1 breakdown

Our first day on the road got underway from the official start line in Shillong. Us along with the other 66 teams all headed down the hills out of town and joined the main highway north to Guwahati. We started out with fine weather although it wasn't long before the monsoon rains dumped down on us making the already rubbish roads even harder to navigate.

Meet the team

The Samosa Express is made up of Lang Denton & Pete ‘Max’ Macken, two intrepid adventurers who have countless tales from travelling through 50 countries between them. Well, they were intrepid adventurers before they got older, wider, married and started to enjoy the good life a little too much. But they've decided to resurrected their younger days, give up Vespa trips around Sicily with morning coffees and evening wines to return to India for one last hurrah. India is a country they remember with fond recollection for not only did they leave their hearts there, they left their stomachs there too (many times). This September, Pete & Lang return to India to collect their stomachs, learn to eat samosa again, preach to the masses the beauty of cold beer and most of all have the adventure of a lifetime.
