These things always happen after sunset.. While on our way to our hotel (nice eco-resort overlooking the entire valley + lake) our rickshaw decided to treat us to our very first break down. Not the very best moment to be on a deserted road in the dark. Luckily, in India you are never alone. Long story short: we spent the night in the home of a very nice family and were the first foreigners ever to visit their village. The result was a kind of parade the this family's house: getting stared at the entire night but also a nice and very authentic dinner together with the neighbours.
The next day we had this kind of Hotel California feeling while leaving the town (we got up aroudn 6 and left after lunch). But in the end a creative truckdriver found a solution to bring our rickshaw to the closest city where an official mechanic could fix it.
Our goal for this trip was to try to get to know the real India - which you probably wouldn't see when travalling a fixed route in a tourbus. So far we've already seen so many things, worlds and people in one country. In Nashik we stayed at a homestay run by such a lovely couple, who also do many nice things for the community and environment. Their comment about us doing the Rickshaw run: "Only you Dutchies can do something as crazy as this!":)
Nashik also turned out to be India's wine capital (coincidence, right..?!), of course we couldn't let this pass without a proper tasting.
Sometimes a detour can lead to many things... like a dusty 'road' or even no road at all. But in India you are never alone, so there we met a guy with a motorcycle on his way to a temple to celebrate Hanuman's birthday. After he pushed us across the river he invited us to join him. When we arrived the complete village was there, having a big party with food and music. No worries about dinner anymore!
Stayed at this awesome palace Tuesday! On invitation of the royal Maharana en Maharani themselves
Impression of Udaipur, great day! 200th selfie with locals at a temple, eat some great dosa's and survived the most heavy storm Udaipur has seen in a long time while we were taking a boat trip to the lake palace..
