Day 13...arrived in Cochin 4 hours ago after being sorely disappointed with the Cherai Beach Resorts we planned to stay in tonight, and 1 bottle of bubbly and a few cocktails later, we are well relaxed! Good going kids! Cheers to the Run!

Almost last leg of the journey...crazy drivers and narrow roads makes this the most tiring. At best, 1 more day to go till we reach Cochi! @

Two glorious days of sun and sea and relaxation has come to an end. Our tool bag has been stolen! Damn! Heading south for Ulall Beach.

Day 6. Songadh to Ellora Caves - approximately 300km. Pushed Priscilla hard last night and made it as far as Songadh. That's 336km or so from Ahmedabad, but who's counting? Found a dodgy guest lodge - Maruti Guest House. 'Relatively clean'. Had a good meal and prohibited beer in the room after, to celebrate Dennis birthday. Fully expected to get an early start this morning, but Priscilla's roof rack has snapped in one corner and the wheel bearings seem to be shot. Trying to get a mechanic out early i.e. Before 9am to avoid losing too much time on the road. Let's hope we get to the caves today still. The sunrises (and sunsets) here are so amazing - still gives me reason to pause, look up and smile, even though the rest of our present surroundings can best be described as a sh*t hole.

Day 5 Ahmedabad to Surat, 278km and beyond. Decided to get an early start and hit the road at 7.30am. The aim is to get as far south as we can today and hopefully get past Surat by nightfall. That was we can either head east to Ajanta Caves or further south to Mumbai. Ajanta seems the preferred option at this point though. It's been a good morning. Stopped at a street 'cafe' for freshly made aloo paratha, bhajia and chai - oh, and a game of pool with the locals. All this before 8.30am. Fantastic way to start the day. English is not broadly spoken or understood here but the gps has been getting us through the confusing road signs mostly in Gujerati. Traffic is crazy man - these trucks and buses are a hazard! Makes our local taxis seem tame in comparison. Stopped by the toll inspectors again this morning for a chat. That's 2 cop stops and several inspector stops so far, all which went really well so far. Happy Birthday Dennis...today will be a dry, but good day!

Today has been a good day. Cruised on the NH8 until the outskirts of the city when suddenly, K-Bam! There were truckers everywhere...where do they suddenly appear from? Decided it's not safe to continue, spotted a Best Western Hotel - sheer bliss! Soft bed, clean sheets and towels, shower With shower door. What more could we ask for:-)

The Pink Lady is now moving like a bullet! Seems we've been mixing too much oil in the petrol. On the road again and have done 100km in 2 hours so we're on track. The road has been awesome - not too many trucks on the motorway NH8 - Destination Ahmedabad, Gujerat - a clean state! So no beer or meat for the next day but we'll survive:)

Priscilla has broken again - 15 minutes into our departure from the hotel. Sigh!
