We're two city slickers with absolutely no idea what we're about to get ourselves into.
One of us runs on caffe lattes, the other on almond matchas. And it was somewhere between those two very safe, very predictable orders that we looked at each other and thought: surely life can be a bit spicier than this.
So naturally, we signed up for a tuk-tuk rally.
Why? Well, every risk analysis on the planet would give you a long list of reasons why not. But staring those reasons down the barrel only made the idea more irresistible.
Life has a habit of throwing challenges at you when you least expect them. So while things are going well and there's no drama on the horizon, what better way to prepare than to throw ourselves into a three-wheeled, glorified lawn mower and set off on an 800km journey through the mountains and jungles of Sri Lanka?
No mechanical skills. Questionable navigation. Unshakeable optimism.
