After leaving the rat & cockroach infested hotel in Udupi we've had a great day cruising South through Kerala. Stopped for watermelon, coconuts, coffees, biscuits and finally arrived at Kappad Beach Resort in good time to enjoy the sunset with a few cold drinks on our balcony. Seen loads of other teams today. Some are staying here too. Anu has gone for a massage, I'm chilling on the balcony, Mani is getting cleaned up for dinner. Perfect end to a great day. So sad that the end is near...@

Having a bit of a late start today as 2/3 of us are feeling a bit ill. Nothing serious but we needed a rest. We'll be off to Pune today. We explored a vineyards in Nashik called Sula yesterday and ate an Italian meal for lunch that did not agree with me. The irony of getting sick after a posh meal is hilarious. We met up with the loving and warm Dhere family last night. They insisted we go for dinner after meeting them en route at a roadside food stop in the night 2 days ago. We are so overwhelmed by their love and generosity. Nirja have us her own Sarees as gifts to us and would not let us refuse them. She took us to meet her brother in law Nilesh who is an accomplished sculptor and he showed us a 20 foot high wall mural that he is sculpting for a museum in Mumbai. What a talented man. We are sad to say goodbye to the Dhere's and Nashik but now the beaches loom ahead and we look forward to seeing them.

I am a Saffer who has lived overseas for about 17 years (first in the UK and now in Singapore). I love travelling , meeting new people, having adventures, getting lost and generally just enjoying life - come what may. I have always wanted to travel to India though never thought I would actually being doing so in such an unsuitable contraption. Looking forward to meeting the rest of the nutters along the way and making some memories that won;t all involve crying and wishing I wasn't so spontaneous!
